It's been a long time since I've made an actual full-scale painting. Like five years. That's horrible.
I have been doing a lot of drawings, and one small watercolor painting for my boyfriend Vlady. Now I've finally completed a painting that I hope will lead to more painting activity. It helped that Vlady painted along with me this past Sunday, working on a still life of a rose from my garden. My painting is a little different from his. I mostly used photo references to come up with a semi-fantastical, very colorful scene.

"Bee Eater" by Dawn Pedersen, 2007, acrylic on canvas, 16" x 20"
This painting is unlike any paintings I have done before, but a good deal like the chalk drawings I've been doing for the Chalk It Up event every year.
By the way, "Bee Eater" is the species of bird that's there on the right.
Next up, I hope to start a portrait of Vlady. I have to pick my favorite face.
